Sophie is a very even-tempered dachshund that would do well in a low-energy environment. She would be a great companion for a retired person or couple. She does not require a lot of exercise but a yard for her to run in would do her some good as she is still trying to shed a couple of extra pounds. Sophie is very sweet and although she came from a home with other dachshunds; she doesn't seem to need another dog as a companion. Unfortunately Sophie was not leash trained so she will need to learn to walk on a leash. Her current foster has a completely fenced yard to be able to go potty outside but when a harness and leash are put on her she gets very, very scared and will back out of her harness in the blink of an eye. For this reason we are requiring that she be placed in a home with a secure fenced yard. We will not consider a home that does not have a physical fenced yard.
