BIO:
My name is Wally. I am a black and tan dachshund with a little bit of silver dapple. My foster mom says I am a unique little guy because I have one blue eye and one brown eye. I am not sure how old I am, but they tell me that by looking at my teeth, I am about 10 years old. My foster mom picked me up from an animal shelter in SC, where I was listed as a stray. While I was there I was “altered” and slept for a couple of days, but now I am very alert and in tune to things around me. My foster mom says that I have a story and that someone loved me because I know commands like “stay”, “come here” and “outside”. I am housetrained and go stand at the back door to go outside when I need to go take care of business. She says she is surprised since I am a boy, and just got “altered”, that I have not even tried to “mark my territory”. I think that is a good thing from what she says. There are other doxies here and we get along just fine. We even take turns sitting on my foster mom’s lap. I am a L O N G Dachshund and I am very laid back and just love to lay IN your lap or right beside you. I love to be petted too, but I don’t beg for it. I sleep beside my foster mom in my own little bed and love to be covered up. My foster mom thinks I would love to sleep in the big bed too but she has not tried me with that since my foster dad takes up most of the bed and she is afraid I would be knocked off the bed.
I am a good guard dog. I don’t bark much, but I will bark if someone strange comes to the door or I hear something I don’t like or that I have not heard before. I put up with cats, but I definitely let them know they are not my best friend.
Oh, I also know how to stand on my hind legs and look cute. My foster mom is still trying to figure out what I want when I do this, but she thinks it is because I want a snack or a treat. Since I was a stray and having to look for food for some time, I am trying to eat all my food and everyone else’s food, so my foster mom has to watch me closely when she feeds me and the other doxies (AND the cat) so I don’t eat their food too. She thinks once I realize that I no longer have to hunt for food and I will get fed that I will not do this anymore.
Wally
PS. I have a little mark on my nose that is healing. The shelter said that was from me trying to be nosey and sticking my nose through the metal wires in my cage. It is almost gone now.
