About Maxwell | |

|
Maxwell is a very unique dachshund that requires a very experienced dachshund owner to adopt him. He has a very quirky and anxious demeanor that requires someone who has patience to work with him. He is not house-trained and still has accidents in his crate from time to time. He is an excessive barker with a very shrill bark so he will not be considered for a person who lives in an apartment or condo. He does not do well around children and likes cats a little too much. He is extremely energetic and will need to be exercised regularly to help with his anxiety. We do require his adopter to have a secure fenced yard to help facilitate in his potty training. Harness and leash walks are not recommended for awhile because he can slip out of them when startled. He does not like to be left alone for long periods of time. He does do very well with the companionship of another dachshund and having another dog to play with would be great for him. Maxwell is a difficult dachshund to work with but once he knows you he warms up quickly. He loves to snuggle and will sleep with you in bed (he prefers that) and he is very affectionate with the people he knows. He does not respond well to children and may snap at one so we require a home with no children. Maxwell will require a lot of patience and love but in return you will win his heart and his loyalty. Please do not apply to adopt Maxwell if you do not have previous dachshund experience or you are not home often. Thank you!
