BIO:

Cherry is a very sweet but timid mini-dachshund. She is full grown weighing in at just around 7 lbs. Cherry was rescued from a very bad breeder situation where many animals were pulled from a hoarder situation and placed in the care of local rescues. Cherry made the long trip from North Carolina among the company of several other dogs. She proved to be quite a trooper, traveling well and getting along with her travel companions. Although she is small, she is a very brave girl.

Cherry was used as a breeder dog and therefore did not get enough attention from people nor did she get enough time to spend learning to socialize with other dogs. She gets along well with other dachshunds although she is a bit timid and scared at first. She likes the company of both men and women but not small children. Cherry would do very well in a home with a single person or a couple without children. She would also do well as an apartment dog or living with a retired couple.

Because of Cherry’s history, we have found that she gets startled very easily with loud noises and does not like the sound of fingers snapping. She will avoid any contact with you and run from you if you snap your fingers at her. Cherry loves to snuggle on the sofa or in bed with you and will warm up very quickly with patience and love. Please consider giving Cherry the love and attention that she deserves and has never experienced in her life.

We encourage adopters from all over the United States and will do our absolute best to accommodate you in arranging for transportation if you choose to adopt a dachshund from FDR. If your dachshund of choice is coming from a state other than the one you reside in, there will be an additional $40.00 Health Certificate Fee that is required by law.
