I have never seen him nip or growl at a dog. He can be a bit protective around new people coming into the house. I'm not sure if it is just males, I have never had a problem and I didn't have a problem with him meeting my sister, but my boyfriend let himself into the house and Toby barked/growled and nipped at his ankle at first. Now he does fine when he comes over, just needs a proper introduction to strangers!
Other than that, he is house trained, listens really well, comes when called. He goes to sleep as soon as you put him under a blanket, but is a bit squirly and wakes up to investigate any kind of noise.
He has a lot of energy and loves to run around and play outside. But also loves to snuggle up next to you and get his belly rubbed.
BIO:
Meet Toby an older guy with a lot of attitude. He is a character and loves to do his own thing, especially begging for human food and belly rubs. He is a cuddle and will jump up and down to be picked up. We do not know a lot about his past (he came from a shelter) but it is obvious he was loved and cared for. He does very well with males or females but not sure about cats. Please give him a furever home!

We encourage adopters from all over the United States and will do our absolute best to accommodate you in arranging for transportation if you choose to adopt a dachshund from FDR. If your dachshund of choice is coming from a state other than the one you reside in, there will be an additional $40.00 Health Certificate Fee that is required by law.
