My name is Missy and I am one of the sweetest and most gentle dachshunds you’ll ever meet. I am very affectionate and I love to snuggle. When I came into rescue I was severely overweight. I weighed almost 30lbs but I have since lost the weight and I now weigh a happy, healthy 14lbs. I look and feel great! I am not on special diet just normal servings of food. I recently had a dental done and lost most of my teeth so I am being fed a mixture of soft food with a small touch of dry mixed in. I love apple slices as dog treats if they are sliced thin. I used to enjoy baby carrots but those can be a bit of a challenge for me now that I only have four teeth left.
My sleeping arrangements are non-negotiable; I prefer to sleep in the “Big Bed” and my foster mom tells me that I have earned that right. So if you don’t want me to sleep with you than I will be placed in a home with someone who will allow me to sleep with them. I am a bit fearful of being alone and require the company of another dog or someone that stays home a lot. I walk great on a leash and enjoy going for walks. It’s been rather cold lately so we haven’t been on too many walks this year but hopefully when the weather warms up and I find my furever home, my new parents will enjoy my company and take me for walks If you would like to make me your perfect companion then please fill out an application to adopt!
Please Note: Missy has been through a great deal of change in the last year. She has resided in four different foster homes, was adopted and then returned, has been through a horrible tooth abscess that caused her to stay in emergency care for three days, has undergone a particularly difficult dental surgery that left her with only four teeth and has achieved losing more than half of her body weight. Because of these changes, Missy will not be placed in just any home. Only the perfect family, perfect environment, and perfect home will be allowed to adopt Missy. All applications will be considered based on their merits and not on a first come, first serve basis. Thank you.
