BIO:
Meet precious Melody! She has been with us since the day she was born. You may remember her sister Harmony who was adopted a few months ago and also their mother, Mindy, who also recently found her forever home. Melody has been with us longer because she is a special needs little girl. When she was only a few days old; we believe that she was injured by her mother accidentally which dislodged the placement of her shoulder and ultimately her left leg. Her leg is considerably shorter and she is not able to use it normally. Melody does not let this slow her down; in fact she has no idea that there is an abnormality at all. She is as active and playful as any puppy can be and boy is she FAST! Her tiny size helps her too.
Of course she is absolutely adorable which makes her handicap even more endearing. Melody has had a consultation with a surgical specialist that believes there is nothing that can be done to correct her leg but that because she gets around just fine and is in no pain whatsoever that her leg should be left alone.
The other reason why Melody has been with us this long is because of her size. She is just now weighing in around 6lbs which is a comfortable weight to have her spay completed. Once she is spayed she will be ready to go to her new forever home. Please keep in mind that Melody is a special needs puppy and will always be so throughout her life. We are looking for the right home with the right environment to help her mobility. We are accepting applications for her adoption but will be making the decision of whom will adopt her based on the right fit for Melody. Thank you so much for your interest!

We encourage adopters from all over the Greater New England Area and will do our absolute best to accommodate you in arranging for transportation if you choose to adopt a dachshund from FDR. If your dachshund of choice is coming from a state other than the one you reside in, there will be an additional $40.00 Health Certificate Fee that is required by law. Thank you for supporting a dachshund in need.
If you would like additional information or have any questions, please feel free to contact the foster family directly. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
