Ella - VA
Check out this incredible story from LIz, who recently adopted Ella from FDR: "Ella fit into the routine around here without a blink. She is as close to perfect as I could imagine. Our first 2 1/2 weeks were a bit nutty what with the holidays approaching and all. My goofy little man Carlee could not stop himself from mounting her until she showed him who had the teeth in the family, and then he was a bit more cautious. They became affectionate, even grooming each other now and then with sweet kisses. It is difficult for me to write about what happened next. On the Wednesday before Christmas my happy go lucky little 13 year old boy Carlee had a series of seizures that led to a diagnosis of a brain tumor. He was left unable to stand or hold his head up. I was able to spend a little time with him in my arms before I let him go. The doctor promised that there was nothing that could have been done before or after, that it had been undetectable, and that the seizures had not left him in pain -- just confused. I took comfort in the fact that he had a marvelous life after his rescue 12 years ago, and that his last day had been lots of fun, including a long walk with Ella. I came home sobbing, and welcomed Ella into my arms. It is something of a miracle that she came to me when she did. Thank you all."

Kaitlyn
We had to rename the pups because we have nieces named Madeline and Katelyn and that wasn’t going over too well! We sail to islands in Massachusetts during the summer, so we named them with that in mind. Katelyn has been renamed Cutty (for Cuttyhunk) and Madeline has been renamed Nanny (for Nantucket). They have learned their new names already and are doing wonderfully. We are absolutely in love with them! They have adapted well to our home and the housetraining is going fairly well. They have a huge extended family who love to have them visit. The pictures attached have them relaxing with us on a Sunday morning! Regards, Al and Sheila

Lyza
Lyza had some health issues and experienced five seizures, but that didn't deter Lisa from loving and adopting our Lyza! Here is what Lisa says about Lyza now. We got her blood test results and everything came back normal. The Vet said she is in good health and doesn't need to go back until the Fall (unless of course she needs to go back for something unexpected, but i'm confident Lyza is in great health!). She is doing wonderful. She runs around the yard as if she was a greyhound running a race. It's so funny! She has also destroyed almost every toy we got her so far. Petco suggested giving her the non-edible bone that you see in the picture, but she's already doing a number on that. She has amazing strength with her teeth! I'd like to thank everyone who participated and volunteered to bring these wonderful animals to homes where they will be loved. I know that we are thrilled to have Lyza join our family and it was possible because of your kindness to these wonder animals. I'd like to particularly thank DeeAnn for taking such good care of Lyza! Happy Holidays everyone!!

Max aka Rupert
Max is now Rupert and he certainty lives up to his name- he is very handsome and fancy, too! Everyone just adores him and people stop us all the time to pet him and he just loves kids and other dogs! He is also quite the flirt and loves to shower everyone with kisses! A few times a week we bring Rupert to meet up with his other small furry friends to run around and play. He is also starting to get used to big dogs, although he was a bit of a scaredy cat at first! He is doing well with potty training and we are so impressed with how quickly he is learning and how smart he is! We are so in love with him and we get the impression that the feeling is mutual because he just loves to be around us!

Lily - SC
First of all, “Thanks” to Furever Dachshund Rescue and Facebook, because without them this story would have never happened. Lili landed (literally at D/FW Airport) into my arms on October 16th. She was a little skittish coming out of the crate, but after a bit of coaxing she finally hopped out and landed in my lap. Once she made it home, within a few hours she became the Alpha dog over the other two Dachshunds we have. In no time, she was romping and playing with them and having a ball. I take her to work with me at least twice a week and she has been known to sleep on the corner of my desk from time to time. When I take her for a walk she leads like she’s the Queen of the Neighborhood! I introduced her to my 2 little granddaughters’ and we ended up at the pet store that afternoon getting pictures made. I could go on and on about her and her antics. There’s never a shortage of kisses from her…. I lost my best friend, Biskit, about a year and a half ago and it was one of the worst things I have ever gone through. Lili has helped to ease that pain tremendously. I’ve had so many friends and family that have met her and have fallen for her just like I did. She is such a little angel and I feel that our finding each other was meant to be. We even share the SAME birthday!!! We couldn’t be happier!!! God Bless, Chris
