Bailey - SC
From the first day we had Arthur he has been a friendly lovable little boy. He was just a little timid the first day or so ... But has really come out of his shell, to say the least :) He loves to chew on anything he can get his mini paws on, so we made sure to get a bunch of hard puppy toys to keep him occupied, which he loves. We're working on things like not chewing on furniture (and human fingers) and we know it's just a matter of time before he knows what to chew and what not to. Were also starting puppy training classes next week to help him learn, and to help us know the best way to handle different behavior. He had ONE accident the first night in his new home, but since then has been so good letting us know when he needs to go out, he sits right at the door! Even when he is somewhere new, he goes right to the door.
Arthur definitely gets a lot of his energy out by playing with the other dachshund in the house, Gilligan. Gill is 4 and is SO good and patient with Arthur, he plays along with him most of the time and let's him know when to cool it. They go for walks together at the park sometimes, and Arthur is really doing a great job walking with the leash. By the end of the day, they're usually cuddling right next to each other with us on the couch :)
Ryan and I had been looking around for a few months for a puppy before we discovered Arthur. We both are so happy that we waited and found the perfect addition to the family! ~ Jenna
Greta
My name is Greta but I love when my humans call me "Peanuts". I am a wiggly girl who loves to cuddle & generally be as close to my people as possible. I love to climb on the back of the sofa when D is at the desk. We're almost at eye level then! My people tell me all the time how smart & sweet I am & I do my best to be a good girl. I wasn't completely housebroken when I got here but we've worked on that. It's helped that one of my people is home during the day because I get lots of attention, love & walks outside 24/7 which we all know is what dachshunds deserve!!
I think this is my 4th or 5th home so I've had a lot of losses & changes. I do have some issues with being anxious and territorial & can't really be around many people or other dogs. I am on a medication now which is helping a bit & I'm getting ready to start obedience training. I've heard there are many treats involved with that so I'm looking forward to it!!
My humans have been through a lot in the past year. In January, 2011, they lost their Lab "Dickens". I think they're still adjusting to the size difference: D says they got me because I'm portable! Last week, they lost their cat, "Janie". I'm glad I'm here with them to take away some of their sadness just like they're taking away mine.
I hope everyone finds their furever home like I found mine!
Kisses & wags,
Greta
PS Thank you FDR for this gift. Good things really do come in small packages. :-) Del B.
Hyde - RI
Audi is doing awesome! He turned 1 on St. Patrick's Day and now weighs about 35 lbs. He's such a sweet boy who loves to meet everyone. He' also the BIGGEST cuddler and always rests on me. He and our doxie Jetta absolutely adore each other, they nap on top of each other, lick each others faces/ears, and of course they wrestle all day long.
Audi's favorite thing to do is eat, steal our socks and play outside. He's a very good listener so he knows how to sit, stay, go down, be easy on walks, he loves his crate and he sleeps in it, no problems, every night. Everyone loves him and always asks us what kind of dog he is. He's made many doggy friends and we hope to make more this summer when we can spend time up at our family's cottage.
Thank you guys at FDR for giving us such a sweet boy to love, we are eternally grateful.

Winnie - SC
Winnie is now called Annie and is doing great. She has opened up so much since I got her. She’s still a little shy around strangers and retreats to her crate when there are a lot of people in the house. But yesterday we were walking in the park and two women stopped to admire her. Instead of hiding behind me like she usually does, she went over to them and let them pet her.

From the moment I brought her home she has been totally in love with her new brother Riley. I have included a picture of them snuggling on the bed. She also wants to be friends with my cat. He’s not interested but she keep trying. And she gets along well with my sister’s dog, who has been staying with us since November.
Annie is the sweetest little thing. Thank you so much for rescuing her for me. Karen
Oscar 4
Things are going great with "Oscar" who is actually named Benson now. :) When he came to our home he became the little brother of a ten year old red male dachshund named Murphy and two cats: Chance a six year old female gray tabby and Eric a 4 year old male solid black domestic short hair. All four get along great! Benson is full of energy and brings a lot of joy into our home. Benson is a perfect fit for our family and he seems to be very happy here. He is house trained now. We also attend training classes on Monday evenings with Benson where he is learning to sit, stay, off, basic social skills, etc.... Benson is doing very well in class and is a great student. We are so glad we were able to become his "furever" family! :) We take pictures of Benson almost everyday. I have attached one for you to see. By the way, Murphy updates "his" facebook page almost everyday with info. about Benson. You can find it under Murphy Poole-Dachshund. If you guys would like to send him a friend request, I will let him (daddy helps him with his page :) ha ha!) know to be on the look out for it.
